About the Owner
Linda Bromley has a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Houston. Linda entered the NASA workforce in 1973 working at the Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas. She started in a systems-level verification facility testing communications hardware for Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. Starting as a data taker, she eventually became the head of that facility. She was selected as the Project Manager in 1996 to provide the first piece of Government Furnished Equipment to the initial stages of the Space Station. Using techniques that were later codified at JSC and the Agency, she was able to provide an end-to-end space qualified communication system in about half the time of previous systems. Linda entered the management track, working up from section head, branch chief, division chief and office manager. As the Manager, Technical Integration Office, Linda supervised the Chief Engineers for the Space Shuttle, Space Station and the Commercial Programs. With both hands-on and managerial oversight of hundreds of projects, Linda has developed insight into what practices work and don't work when developing hardware systems. In recognition of these experiences Linda was tapped to work on Agency-level policy documents for NASA Headquarters. In this capacity she worked as a writer and integrator for the SE Requirements document, the SE Handbook, the PM Requirements document and the PM Handbook. After retiring, Bromley SE Consulting was hired back to continue work on the SE Handbook and in developing a new Program/Project Control Handbook. She is also providing services to the gas & oil and the medical communities.
